A rare Ercol elm and beech 1960's all purpose 457 (tray) table as seen in Ercol's 1965 furniture brochure. It has since adopted the name butler's tray due to having handles on either side. It is described as 'a combined tray and table with sculptured handle grips at each end. It is light to carry, strong to last. There is a fitted rimmed tray under the top. In it's natural colour.' It would be a wonderful mid century addition to all styles of home.
This table has certainly lived up to it's name in that is has been strong and lasted well. It has been well cared for but also well used - we have lightly sanded the table top and treated it with several coats of Danish oil in order for the table top to look it's best and also protect it for future use. There is a very small dark mark on the top of the table (see photo 3) and the splayed legs have a few little nicks on them as expected of a table of vintage age.
