Another wonderful piece of furniture designed by Lucian Ercolani for Ercol. Made from solid elm and beech, it has lovely spindle and bentwood armrests, splayed legs and a smooth beautifully shaped detachable backrest. At just over 2 metres long, it can comfortably seat 4 and anyone up to 6' 7" can stretch flat out and sleep comfortably on it.

In the 50s/60s it was marketed as " a really lovely and useful settee for your lounge which seats four - yet surprisingly with the added advantage that with a simple quick change it can be transformed into a really comfortable single bed. Daytime luxury and restful nights are ensured by wonderfully deep reversible foam cushions which float in softness on reinforced rubber suspension fixed to the frame by Ercol's unique patented method. All covers (including the long one on the seat) zip off to the cleaners."

This Ercol day bed has the advantage of extra side and seat cushions, making it even more comfortable to both sit and sleep on. It has been re-webbed and the covers look like they have been replaced as do the cushions. They are in a marvellous condition and all the covers have zips - as the original ones would have. The material used to upholster the day bed has beautiful colours (purple, lilac, blue, green, cream) in it and will match many colour schemes. However you can mix and match colours as I have done in the last photo - adding purple and green cushions (not included) for a different look.

This day bed is in a very good vintage condition with just a few nicks and scratches (please see photos) - nothing that stands out.
