A set of 4 classic Ercol Windsor Model 370 chairs, designed by Lucian Ercolani in the 1950s. The seats which are made from elm shows off the beautiful wood grain pattern and blends well with the beech wood chair frames. This distinctive Windsor dining chair combines strength and durability with classic elegance. The six ash spindles and curved seat back, alongside the sculpted saddle seat provide a comfortable and supportive sit. The chair bow is steam bent from a single straight beech rail.
The design is so popular that Ercol still produce this chair today but from ash rather than elm and beech (retailing at £510 each).
3 of this set of 4 chairs are in a good vintage condition, they have a few nicks and scratches as expected from furniture of this age (please see photos and video) and 1 chair back supports are a little loose but are still strong. The 4th chair as you will see in the last few photos and video, has not been so well cared for, particularly the seat of the chair. This could be covered by a seat cushion or be restored.
