This dressing table is a lovely example of mid century modern design made in honey coloured satin walnut veneers. It has lots of very useful cosmetic and clothes storage space with 3 top drawers and a large concealed lovely curved shaped full width base drawer. The drawers all have dovetail joints.
The design is very iconic of the mid century period with its use of clean classic understated lines. The legs are tapered splayed solid wood legs and the drawer handles an unusual trumpet shape. The attention to detail even continues with the mirror which has an adjustable hinge at the back allowing the mirror to be tilted forward if needed.
The dressing table has been well cared for being in a very good vintage condition. It has a glass top to protect it, which can be removed if preferred. The dressing table top is darker in colour in the middle where an object has been placed, preventing sunlight from lightening that area. The mirror is very clear with signs of just minor foxing. Please see photos.
Alfred Cox furniture was made by craftsmen and was sold through high quality UK department stores such as Heals, Harrods and other leading furniture retailers throughout the 1950s 1960s.
This characterful dressing table would be a stylish addition to any bedroom or dressing room.
