This wonderful Fat Lava floor vase was made in West Germany by Scheurich in the 1970s. The genre gets its name from the thick, encrusted glazes that typify many of these pieces, some of which look as if their surfaces are composed of frozen flows of lava in vibrant hues. It is certainly the case with this vase with it's fiery red and orange colours interspersed with green. At 4.2 kg in weight it is a very solid vase. It is a real statement and collectible piece and would certainly add style to your home.

The base of the vase is marked with W. Germany and the series number 546 - 41, 41 being the height of the vase, one of the tallest of it's kind.

It has been well cared for and is in a good vintage condition with a minor crack near the rim (please see photo).
