A stylish oval dining table made from teak, from the 1970's. Unusually it extends along the widest part of the table. Made by Greaves & Thomas, who by the mid-twentieth century were producing a range of high quality furniture in the Danish Modern style, including sideboards, armchairs and dining furniture. It was during the 1950s and 1960s that the company employed highly skilled furniture designers, the most well known of these being Walter Cornell, a designer known for creating pieces influenced by Danish Modern style: sculptural with clean lines.
The table top has been sanded and oiled to restore it to it's original condition and at the same time enhancing the grain of the wood. The tapered legs sit behind an oval wood apron. There is a small metal lever under the edge of the table top that pulls to aid opening of the table. The extensions are butterfly leaf extensions which are easy to fold out. The table comfortably seats 4 people and 6 possibly up to 8 people when extended.
The table is in a very good condition; there is a small piece of veneer missing from the apron of the table - please see photo 10.
The length of the table is 137.5cm and the width is 97cm extending to 142.5cm when open, height is 74.5cm.
Chairs not included.
