A beautiful rare delicate Marcel Boucher humming bird brooch from the 1950's. Made from gold plate with faux coral cabochons decorating the head of the bird interspersed with crystal rhinestone accents, a dark blue gemstone for the eye and mother of pearl wings which catch the light, this is a stunningly crafted brooch.

It is not a surprise to hear that French born Marcel Boucher trained as an apprentice to Cartier before emigrating to the US in the 1920's.  He went on to design jewellery for the Mazer Bros in New York using gold plated enamel and precious stones on jewellery of exotic birds, insects and flowers.

This brooch is marked with Boucher and the copyright symbol on one wing and the brooch number on the other - which was his mark in the 50's.

This brooch has been very well cared for - all the gemstones are in tact, as is the fastener. It comes with the pictured box.
