This is a handsome solid golden oak easel from the 1900s manufactured by J Bryce Smith of Hampstead Road, N.W. London. It is designed to hold all sizes of canvases and paintings and stands on a solid base. As it's a solid easel it rests on 4 castors which makes it very easy to move around the room. The easel has a ratchet system to move the tray up and down, by turning the brass handle, to suit your height requirements for painting or displaying the canvas, varying from 166cm to 260cm in height. There is also an adjustable 3 notch clamp that will hold picture frames in place . The width of the base of the easel is 64cm and the frame 61cm, the depth is 70cm.

It is a wonderful easel for artists and art collectors alike; being adaptable, solid, and made with clever craftsmanship. It has withstood the test of time of over 100 years with very few dints and scratches and certainly very few paint splashes.
