'The legs have it' in this rare version of the Danish Superellipse table designed by Bruno Mathsson & Piet Hein for Fritz Hansen, made of laminated beech wood. The legs are of a beautiful sculptured design and have been very cleverly thought out, as when you sit down it is the table legs that you see. This version (fully labelled and embossed underneath) was produced in 1985 and is particularly rare because it has solid beech legs, rather than the more common chrome or steel. For practical reasons they are also cleverly designed as they just tighten and slide out of their location points in each corner, which means that the table can be easily removed if it is required for carrying or storing. This is a good-sized coffee table having a length of 135cm by a depth of 90cm.
There are a few fine scratches on the table surface and on one edge (please see photos) but what you would expect from a table of this age and it does no detract from its wonderful design.
