An original pair of vintage Neil Morris & Co of Glasgow coffee/side tables from the Cumbrae Range.
These tables are made from a tropical zebrano wood with solid wood tapered legs. The sharp-edged appearance of the legs really adds to the style of these tables. It may not surprise you looking at the style of the legs that, during World War II, Morris & Co developed fighter components culminating in the prototype of the helicopter blade made of laminated wood! What a great conversation piece whilst sat resting your cup of tea or glass of wine on them.
Post war Neil Morris concentrated on high quality furniture, becoming the favoured supplier of royalty and was commissioned to design and fit a bedroom suite for the Queen and Prince Philip as a royal wedding gift. The suite currently resides in Kensington Palace.
One of the tables has Morris of Glasgow stamped on it and Cumbrae whilst the other has CC41 - Government enforced commodity materials post WW2 - the one on the right in the photos with the darker stripes.
These tables have been treated well and are in a very good vintage condition.
